About the Department
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide Personal Health Program services within the Community Clinical Services Division of the Kent County Health Department.
Duties include providing case management, screening, and medical care for latent and active tuberculosis cases in Kent County. Will evaluate patients in biweekly clinics with infectious disease physicians, perform home visits to assess medication complicance and identify imminent patient needs, frequently assess clients' response to TB treatment, and coordinate appropriate medical care between providers and refugee case workers. Responsibilities also include data entry into MDSS and EDN, teaching TB classes to clinicians and community organizations, serving as a general hub of TB for Kent County, and working with TB controllers at the state level. Also conduct contact tracing when indicated for tuberculosis.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, no weekends, nights or holidays. Will be required to work 10 am – 7 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.
2025 Starting Wages:
$31.97- A Step: Associate Degree in Nursing with 36 months or less experience as a Registered Nurse.
$33.15 - B Step: Associate Degree in Nursing with 37 months to 60 months of experience as a Registered Nurse.
$34.61 - C Step: Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 36 months or less of experience as a Registered Nurse; or Associate Degree in Nursing with 61 months or more of experience as a Registered Nurse.
$35.74 - D Step: Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 37 months or more experience as a Registered Nurse.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a National League of Nursing accredited nursing institution and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Experience in testing and treating TB and sexually transmitted infections desired. HIV certification desired.
Computer literacy, including working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, database management required. Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to be highly efficient while ensuring attention to detail is required. Must interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers, and members of the general public from widely divergent cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to provide client service from a culturally aware and client driven perspective, and deliver excellent customer service to all clients while following HIPAA guidelines is essential.
Must be able to provide services to clients in a variety of County locations and possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and have access to regular transportation.

All Kent County Health Department employees, regardless of position, are required to have their immunization status assessed and vaccinations brought up to date in accordance with the current CDC recommendations for health care professionals, with exceptions only as required by law. Mandatory vaccines include annual influenza vaccination.
