Position Duties
What You’ll Do in This Role:
- Administer Help Desk Operations: Oversee the City’s help desk software and serve as one of the main contacts for IT support. You’ll deliver timely and effective assistance, provide training, and contribute to the IT knowledge base for both end users and IT staff.
- Provide Advanced IT Support: Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of hardware, software, and application issues for staff across all City departments.
- Manage End-User Devices and Systems: Configure, deploy, and maintain end-user workstations and peripherals, including PCs, Macs, printers, IP phones, mobile devices (iOS/Android), and conferencing equipment. Many deployments require travel to other City departments using a City vehicle. You’ll use Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune to keep devices updated, secure, and reliable.
- Handle Hardware and Asset Management: Coordinate the purchase, deployment, and replacement of hardware. Assist the Business Applications Manager and IT Director with the Technology Replacement Fund, including maintaining the computer inventory and tracking departmental contributions.
- Strengthen System Security and Maintenance: Manage patches, applications, and endpoint protection software to maintain a secure environment.
- Participate in Technology Projects: Contribute to the research, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies and help drive continuous improvement across the IT department.
- Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with users, vendors, and fellow IT team members to understand needs, solve problems, and provide excellent customer service. You’ll also participate in the IT on-call rotation to provide 24/7 technical support.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Business Administration, or a related field. Four years of experience in supporting desktops, laptops, tablets, servers, and information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid state driver’s license.
Bring a strong foundation in computer and mobile technologies, with the ability to quickly adapt to new tools and systems. Have a knack for problem-solving and enjoy digging into technical issues to find effective solutions. Communicate with patience and clarity, making technology feel approachable for all users. Balance attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple requests and priorities. Stay curious and committed to continuous learning in a fast-changing technology environment. Work well in a team setting, building positive working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and staff across departments.
