Kennel Attendant I: 
This is the entry level class in the Kennel Attendant series and is flexibly staffed.  This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series.  Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level.  Employees work under immediate supervision while learning assigned job tasks.  As experience accrues, incumbents will perform with increasing independence.  This is entry level job class is responsible for maintaining the Animal Services facilities and providing for the care and feeding of impounded animals on a day to day basis.  Incumbents allocated to this classification must work effectively and tactfully with diverse individuals as well as handle and control animals in a safe and humane manner. Employees allocated to this job class must possess a high degree of dependability as well as a basic knowledge regarding the humane care of neglected and impounded animals.

Position Duties

Kennel Attendant I

Education:  Successful completion of the equivalent of a high school diploma from an accredited institution.
Experience At least six (6) months of progressively responsible work experience with animals.
