POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, and Benefits Eligible
SUPERVISORY CONTROL: Director of Health & Staff Development
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Regular hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM.
35 hours per week for 42 weeks per year; Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Order and prepare meals.
- Serve meals to classrooms and uphold the cleanliness of the kitchen.
- In accordance with the philosophy of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff in the agency and demonstrate a positive attitude towards all clients and other people with whom you come in contact during the course of your job.
SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Implement the PBIS philosophy and/or strategies in the workplace (classroom, families’ homes, office, off-site trainings, community, etc.) at all times.
- Learn, understand and cooperate with the philosophy and curriculum of the program.
- Order paper supplies for the center.
- Order food supplies for the center.
- Understand and work to achieve the goals, objectives, and philosophy of Head Start and Child Care.
- Cooperate with center staff to ensure the smooth, efficient operation of the program.
- Complete all meal preparation for breakfast and lunch.
- Distribute appropriate portions to each classroom at breakfast and lunch time.
- Keep the kitchen equipment and storage areas clean and in good condition at all times.
- Keep food service supplies adequate for center needs.
- Follow Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations.
- Help maintain the appearance of the center by helping to put away supply orders, checking lobby and foyer.
- Keep all information pertaining to Head Start children and their families confidential.
- Maintain open communication with the Directors, Managers, Teachers and other staff involved within the center.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Participate in required staff training and development sessions.
- Maintain current credentials.
- Be responsible for the assigned computer hardware and software. Perform regular maintenance functions and other duties as outlined in the agency’s written procedure on computer systems.
- Act as a representative of Head Start in the community to strengthen the image of Head Start and families.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Complete other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Health and Staff Development.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Will frequently exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be capable of providing written and oral information, both in person and over the telephone.
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, OR, an eighth-grade education and two years of experience in a related field.
- Preferably have had direct experience working with young children.
- Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.
