Description
An excellent opportunity exists to work for a government contractor with competitive compensation and work-life balance. Posterity Group is seeking experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist for the Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS.
Duties & skills needed to be successful in this position include, but are not limited to:
- Collecting and receiving bodily fluid or tissue samples from patients
- Preparing samples for routine testing and analysis
- Performing lab procedures and using lab equipment to analyze samples
- Recording, interpreting, and documenting laboratory results
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records
- Complying with the correct procedures, policies and health/safety guidelines
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, including calibrating equipment and performing routine maintenance
- Working closely with physicians and medical team to provide patient diagnosis
- Staying current with relevant medical terminology and procedures
- Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced
Medical Laboratory Technologist Necessary Information:
- Will be assigned to the Blood Donor Center on Blood Drive days and the Main Laboratory on days they are not needed in the Blood Donor Center.
- When assigned to the Blood Donor Center: The normal duty schedule for personnel, apart from blood drive days, is Monday through Friday with a 9- hour workday between the hours of 0700-1800, to include a 1-hour non-billable lunch.
- During blood drive days, the duty schedule will vary. Personnel will be scheduled a 9-hour workday between the hours of 0300-2359, to include a 1- hour non-billable lunch. There will be approximately two to four drives per week. Depending on blood donor turnout (during blood drives), lunches may be delayed meeting military contingency needs. Periodic travel is required for other than local blood drives, which may include multiple days at TDY locations.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
- Proficient in laboratory procedures and use of laboratory equipment
- Excellent knowledge of laboratory information systems
- Strong understanding of safety and sanitation standards and procedures
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact with healthcare professionals
- BSc degree in Medical Technology, Biology or related field
- Licensed as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Valid BLS
