Job Title: Assistant Swim Coach
Hours: Part-Time; non-exempt employee. Must be available for evening practices (M-Th) and weekend meets
Salary: Starting at $17.50/hour
Reports To: Head Coach / Aquatics Director
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in managing the Ludlow Sea Lions Swim Team, competitive swim program. The Assistant Swim Coach provides individual and group coaching with emphasis on safety, proper skill development, and team member development. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assists the Head Coach with instructing members in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
· Organizes and directs individual and group practice activities/exercises as directed by the Head Coach.
· Assesses swimmer’s skills, monitors members during competition and practice, and keeps the Head Coach informed of the athletic performance of members.
· Assists with entries and coverage for meets, as well as maintaining individual swim achievements.
· Assists the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
· Participates in special activities to include but not limited to parent meetings, banquet award nights, and preparation of the event.
· Communicate effectively with the Head Coach about daily practice procedures, emergencies, and information regarding swimmers and swim team wellbeing.
· Maintain accurate records of member attendance.
· Participate in staff meetings.
· Participate in swim league meetings and instruct off-season clinic.
· Communicate with parents and swimmers to promote good sportsmanship, strong team spirt, provide encouraging feedback, and positive recognition.
· Engage parents and cultivate relationships to create a collaborative swim environment.
· Be available for questions or concerns from parents or swimmers.
· Report all problems and concerns to the Head Coach or Aquatics Director
Requirements
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education / Experience: At least 18 years of age, High School diploma or GED with at least one (1) year of work experience in a competitive swim environment. CPR & First Aid Certified. Lifeguard certification preferred.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
• Competitive swimming experience and strong knowledge of stroke-mechanics
• Experience with effectively coaching competitive swimmers
• Group leadership skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Honesty, integrity and operating as a team player are critical to this position
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for members
• Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
• Report to scheduled shift consistently and on time.
• Follow policies, procedures and rules of the organization.
• Maintain high program standards.
