Position: Information Technology (IT) Specialist
Responsible to: Network Manager

Primary Function: The Information Technology (IT) Specialist will be responsible for first level support of all systems used by staff and students, as well as assisting Systems and Network Administrator with the deployment, management and support of applications installed on district issued devices. Additionally, working with the technology staff, media specialists, teaching staff, administration and entire student body, will help to facilitate the effective use of technology throughout the building ensuring all instructional technologies and applications are available when needed.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Responsible for distribution and collection process of district issued devices
- Manage day-to-day technology inventory control for devices, parts (re-stocking and warranty), and supplies
- Serve as primary contact for staff and students using district technology resources
- Diagnose and repair all computers/technology equipment (hardware/software) used by staff and students
- When properly certified, perform all warranty repairs and complete all associated paperwork
- Collaborate with technology staff, media specialists and other appropriate personnel concerning hardware and software issues
- Assist students and staff with basic usage of technology in either one-to-one or group environments
- Support established systems/network architecture and print service procedures
- As appropriate, assist Systems and Network Administrator with support in matters directly affecting students and staff (such as: password resets, access rights, account lockouts)
- Keep current with new technologies and software applications
- Serve as primary technical contact for supply, repair and maintenance vendors of non-infrastructure devices.
- Attend building and other professional meetings

Performs such other duties as may be prescribed by law, Board policy; or assigned by the Network Manager, Building Principal, Superintendent or Director of Technology and Communication
Qualifications:
- Current Apple Certified Macintosh Technician certification. If not held when starting position, it must be obtained within 3 months of accepting role as Information Technology Specialist.
- High school graduate with 4-year technical degree in computer science or other related field experience.
- NJ Substitute Certificate
- Field experience repairing computer hardware and supporting software for both PC and Apple platforms.
- Understanding of Local Area Networks and their related components. Experience with network switches, wireless access points, and the TCP/IP protocol are preferred.
- Field experience with installation and maintenance of printer hardware/software for PC and Apple platforms.
- Motivated individual who demonstrates a high aptitude for technology

- Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks and requirements
