Longmont High School (LHS), founded as Longmont’s original high school in 1901, is a learning community committed to guiding students in becoming productive, empowered and involved citizens of the world. All students have access to a full continuum of rigorous academic course offerings and a diverse selection of co-curricular activities.
Additionally, LHS is home to several instructional focus programs which include Advanced Placement courses, the Medical and BioScience Academy and the High School Business Program. Responsibilities:
Student Leadership: Lead and guide student technical crews in all areas of theatrical production, including lighting, sound, costumes, set construction, props, and stage management. Coordinate with and delegate to student department heads.
Learning & Problem Solving: Learn along with and from our students and help them to solve problems that arise.
Production Oversight: Oversee the successful execution of all technical elements for after-school drama productions, ensuring they align with the director's artistic vision.
Department Coordination: Serve as a central point of communication, coordinating the efforts of the various technical departments (lights, sound, costumes, etc.) and ensuring clear communication with the production director.
Training: Coordinate the training of student technicians, within the context of our productions and through student department heads when possible.
Safety & Compliance: Assist the drama department head in ensuring a safe working environment for all student technicians, enforcing proper safety protocols and procedures for all equipment and tools.
Budget & Inventory Management: Assist the drama department head with managing the technical budget, tracking inventory, and recommending new equipment and supplied purchases as needed.
Time Commitment: Roughly 100 hours per show.
