TEACHER - HIGH SCHOOL FRENCH - 1.0 FTE

Position Summary

Milford Public Schools is searching for a dynamic 1.0 FTE French teacher to join the Foran High School team. This teacher will engage students in Grades 9-12 in French learning with a proficiency-based approach to language instruction and a focus on high-quality instruction.

Responsibilities

• Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the district

• Manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment

• Design and implement lessons aligned with the MPS Model for High Quality instruction and use assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices

• Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner

• Assist in the development of curriculum guides and collaborate on the selection of relevant resources and other educational materials to support the development of the MPS ASL program

• Participate in professional learning to improve instructional practice and positively affect student achievement

Knowledge/Skills

• Experience with teaching in a multicultural environment

• Ability to work effectively with others

• Organizational and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• CT State Certification - French, 4-12 (023) preferred. Candidates who are currently enrolled in an accredited CT teacher certification program may be considered

• Dual certification in French and Spanish OR proficiency in both French and Spanish preferred

• Fluency in English and French required
