The Adults & Public Health Directorate is looking for a Team Leader who will be responsible for developing a Unit which provides high quality care and is responsive to the changing needs of service users.
Under the guidance of the Registered Manager, you will provide management support to a staff group of residential support workers, care assistants, domestics, and cooks. You will be responsible for the day to day running and supervision of residential, respite or supported living schemes within the In-House residential services.
Tasks include providing an environment in which service users are encouraged to develop their skills at their own pace, and thereby attain their full potential in areas of social, emotional, and developmental growth through appropriate approaches that ensure individuals are as fully integrated into the community as possible.
The post holder will provide direct care to service users, leadership on shift for staff, and should be able to assist the registered Manager in performance management, to plan, monitor and supervise care staff. Be able to support the Care staff in formulating care plans and risk assessments in accordance with Harrow policy and support with the management and implementation of the staff rota.
About you:The successful candidate will have:
- Knowledge of the Care Standards Act 2000 and an understanding of its application for the service.
- Knowledge of the Community Care Legislation and an understanding of its implications for services and service users.
- Ability to make effective use of all resources (especially staff and budgets)
- Ability to plan, organise, and monitor the work of a diverse staff team.
- Ability carry out risk assessments of the service, staff and service users
- An understanding of the developmental needs (social, emotional, and physical) of adults who have severe learning disabilities.
- Ability to chair and minute meetings.
- A minimum of 3 years working with adults who have disabilities.
- A minimum of 2 years working at RSW level (shift leader) or similar position.
- 2 years’ experience of proving service to either people with severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, or challenging needs.
- Minimum of N.V.Q. Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
