The Data Engineer is part of the Strategic Analytics Team, whose goal is to provide analytical insights to business stakeholders to drive data driven decisions. The team serves all departments across Novacore, including but not limited to Marketing, Finance, and Underwriting.To be successful in this role, we're needing someone a Cloud data solution engineer with hands-on implementation experience within the following: Cloud Data Analytics, Data Modernization, Data Warehousing, Data Lake, and Data Governance. In addition to designing, building, and enhancing data marts, data ETL pipelines and data warehouses, you will have the opportunity to work with new technology and truly impact the digital transformation of Novacore’s niche programs.  

 

**This position can sit at either our Conshohocken, PA Home Office, or Plano, TX Office, working on a hybrid schedule.** 

 

Responsibilities:
  • Develop an understanding of the business and system processes to build future target-state data and analytics roadmap, in collaboration with key business and technology leaders.  
  • Work with Architect and other team members to solution applications that enable reporting, analytics, data science, and data management while improving accessibility, efficiency, processing, and quality of data.  
  • Solve business and data engineering problems by utilizing best practices to create and enhance Datalake, using Azure Storage, Azure SQL, ETL pipelines using ADF/Synapse, cloud data models (AAS).  
  • Assist and lead data discovery sessions with cross functional business teams to help develop requirements and data strategy roadmap.  
  • Recommend emerging technological solutions to support digitalization transformation initiative.  
  • Coordinate and build strong working relations with various internal stakeholder groups, including IT, Marketing, and Underwriting.  
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors-degree in Computer science, Computer engineering, or any related area of focus.  
  • Strong TSQL Development and debugging skills, with a good understanding of SQL Administration.  
  • 5+ years of experience, building data solutions in SQL server/Warehouse.   
  • 2+ years of experience of working in any Cloud environments, with preference to Azure stack including:  
    • Azure SQL, Data warehouse, serverless pool, noSQL 
    • Azure Data factory/SSIS or similar ETL. Azure Synapse experience preferred.  
    • CI/CD using Azure Devops 
    • Proficiency in reporting tools like PowerBI, Tableau or Qlikview.  
  • Good understanding of dimensional modeling, using Azure Analysis services or SSAS.  
  • Basic understanding of cloud principles, certification preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Python, R and/or Scala. 
  • Good understanding of concepts for Data warehouse, MDM, Big Data, Machine learning and AI. 
  • High attention to detail, demonstrable critical thinking, with an eye towards continuous process improvement.  
  • Ability to understand business requirements and be able to create a Work Breakdown Structure/user story, to include dates and milestones.  
  • Ability to work independently but also willing to collaborate in a team environment.  
  • Previous Insurance experience preferred.  
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. 
  • Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills.
