Definition
This is a multifaceted position requiring knowledge of both computer hardware and software.   Act as the first point of contact for technical problems or issues.  Provide efficient and effective access to technology resources enabling administrators, teachers, and students to complete daily tasks.  

Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following duties:
Assist in providing support for the unique hardware and software required by the Local Course Options (LCOs):
LCO – Dental Lab technology
LCO - Manufacturing and Engineering robots and technology
Research and development of technology for local course options
Provide support for third party vendor curriculum - Cisco Academy, ExplorNet/QTL, and Microsoft IT Academy:
Assist with lab equipment set-up and configuration
Provide assistance and troubleshoot software required for the curriculum
Research and propose equipment upgrades/replacements
Manage Mac OS X Server with the following services:
Upgrading Mac OS
Installing updates
Management of student data
Troubleshoot hardware and software of Mac computers
Network home folders
File sharing
Disk quotas
Permissions
Support, set up and oversee computers for student testing (state and local).
Assist with management of school level “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) for student/staff use.
Set up new hardware including imaging and naming PCs.
Manage Windows 7 computing devices.
Install programs, printers and manage iPrint printers.
Support local printer devices.
Assist in hardware maintenance at local and network levels:
Troubleshooting of desktop machines and printers
Desktop hard drive imaging with district standard image
Installation of district approved and legally licensed software
Troubleshooting video and audio system components
Reset student passwords for Google and Active Directory
Manage Chromebooks:
Upkeep and troubleshooting of devices
Manage the upkeep of SMART boards and projectors:
Cleaning bulbs, replacement, and alignment
IP telephone system support:
Assist in the troubleshooting of VoIP handsets

Other Responsibilities
Provide professional development for staff and students
Serve as an internship mentor for Highland’s Computer Engineering pathway students
Provide Financial Secretary with technology related purchasing information
Submit work orders on GCS web-based Work Order System
Manage the inventory and yearly AMTR report
Manage surplus equipment storage and removal
Manage storage on servers:
Maintain quota
Assist students and staff to move documents to Drive
Documentation of all activities
Fulfill duties delegated from TSS as Highland’s designated Systems Operator (Sysop)
Serves as a liaison between TSS and the school
Other duties as assigned by principal

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knows imaging technology and proper image for PC and laptop computers.
Strong knowledge of wide (WAN) and local area network (LAN) architecture, protocols, and diagnostic tools.
Strong knowledge of various computing devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, and related technologies.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of wide and local area networks to include but not limited to core switching infrastructure, firewall, wireless design, topologies, and security protocols.
Strong knowledge of network operating systems.
Strong knowledge of video and audio systems.
Strong knowledge of VoIP implementation.
Strong knowledge of QoS on LAN, WAN, and Internet.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of technology users.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills.

Education and Experience
Minimum of a two-year degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience

Employment Term
Ten (10) month position to coincide with the teacher work schedule

Physical Requirements
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, walking, standing, talking, lifting, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records processes, and conduct extensive reading and research.

Salary:    Grade 70
