Position Summary:
Perforce is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Security Engineer to join our growing InfoSec team. The Associate Security Engineer will be responsible for triaging vulnerability findings from external security scanners and investigating potential security incidents.
This role will play a critical role in ensuring the security posture of Perforce by coordinating remediation efforts and acting as a point of contact for externally reported vulnerabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to develop their skills in cybersecurity and contribute to a proactive security program.
Responsibilities:
Vulnerability Triage: Analyze vulnerability scan results and vulnerability reports (e.g., Arctic Wolf, Nessus, Qualys, Microsoft Defender, Security Scorecard, and BitSight) to identify potential security risks and prioritize remediation efforts.
Incident Investigation: Investigate alerts and potential security incidents originating from vulnerability findings, using logs, security tools, and other available resources.
Jira Ticket Management: Create, update, and manage Jira tickets to track vulnerability remediation progress, ensuring timely resolution and communication with relevant stakeholders.
Remediation Follow-up: Follow up with system owners and development teams to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely manner. Track remediation status and verify successful implementation.
External Vulnerability Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for externally reported vulnerabilities from security researchers, coordinating with internal engineering teams to investigate and respond appropriately.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of vulnerability findings, remediation steps, and incident investigations.
Security Tool Support: Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of security tools, including vulnerability scanners and SIEM (Sentinel) systems.
Continuous Learning: Stay current with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the InfoSec team, as well as IT and development teams, to ensure a coordinated security response.
Requirements:
Computer Science or Data Security related degree or 1-2 years of equivalent experience.
Basic understanding of common vulnerabilities and attack vectors (e.g., OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 25).
Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Arctic Wolf, Nessus, Qualys, Security Scorecard, Microsoft Defender, NMap, BurpSuite).
Experience with Jira or other ticketing systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Passion for cybersecurity and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
Preferred:
Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH) or relevant experience.
Experience with SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel).
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
Understanding of cloud security concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
