As Manager of the Global Sales & Distribution Data Team, you will lead the vision, development, and execution of a comprehensive data strategy that treats data as a product—designed, built, and maintained with the same rigor and customer-centric mindset as any other business offering.
What you'll do
- Data as a Product Leadership:
Champion a product-oriented approach to data—defining clear ownership, roadmaps, and success metrics for data assets that serve internal and external consumers. Ensure data products are discoverable, trustworthy, and continuously evolving to meet business needs. - Strategic Data Planning:
Architect and implement an end-to-end data strategy for Global Sales & Distribution, aligning with enterprise goals and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. - Agile Delivery & Execution:
Lead Agile development practices across cross-functional teams. Collaborate with PMO to prioritize initiatives and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of data products and solutions. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Partner with business leaders, product managers, and technical teams to understand needs, educate on data capabilities, and drive adoption of data products. - Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Foster a culture of experimentation and iteration. Leverage modern data platforms, automation, and AI/ML to enhance the value and usability of data products. - Governance & Compliance:
Ensure all data products adhere to enterprise data governance standards, including data quality, lineage, security, and regulatory compliance. - Team Development:
Mentor and develop a high-performing team of data professionals. Promote a collaborative, product-focused culture that values innovation, accountability, and impact. - Data Quality for GenAI Readiness:
Establish robust data quality frameworks to ensure data is accurate, complete, timely, and context-rich—critical for enabling advanced analytics and GenAI use cases. Drive initiatives to standardize, cleanse, and enrich data, making it AI-ready and aligned with enterprise knowledge models.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
- 5 years experience in airline commercial strategy and/or data management, including at least 2 years leading team(s).
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- 10 years experience in airline commercial strategy and/or data management, including at least 2 years leading team(s).
- Experience in integrated marketing, loyalty programs, B2B sales, airline industry knowledge
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Knowledge of airline industry, loyalty program design, airline technology required to deliver fare and customer experience products end-to-end, Global Sales & Distribution channels, B2B consumer behavior, modern customer engagement and marketing techniques powered by technology
- Ability to lead a large team according to American’s leadership model
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to generate consensus and solicit support for product implementations
- Ability to propose and defend strategies to senior leadership
- Ability to interact professionally with B2B channels and customers
