The Optical Lab Processing Technician is responsible for assisting the other Optical Lab Processors and Optical Lab Technician with the accurate processing of all lab orders, including data entry, frame ordering, tracking, fabrication, assembly, inspection and timely completion of all prescription eyewear.
Duties and responsibilities
• Receive and process new optical orders to include creating a tray, verifying all information and entering order information into lab software, ordering frame from vendor
• Determine the appropriate lab that will complete the order
• Order all finished lenses for most Optical SV orders to be done by Finishing Lab
• Ability to accurately match up all uncut lenses to orders and forward to Finishing Lab
• Ability to accurately match frame to order
• Coordinate Courier pick up/drop off for both Optical and Medical
• Liaison between all labs and opticians via phone and email communication
• Analyze lenses accurately using manual or digital lensometers.
• Perform final inspections and ensure that all eyewear is up to Wheaton Eye Clinic standards and meets customer satisfaction.
• Ability to complete the duties of the Optical Lab Processors during vacation or illness
Additional Responsibilities as needed:
• Assist Optical Lab Technician when needed based on workload
• Assist Optical Lab processors in managing ordering frames for patients, frame inventory and returns
• Accurately lay out all prescription lens types and material for cutting and edging.
• Operate all edging equipment (Santinelli, Essilor or other brands), lay out and blocking equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Assemble eyewear (including drill mount assembly) to be ready to pass final inspection.
• Perform all other finishing laboratory functions such as tinting and eyewear repairs.
• Follow maintenance schedule for all equipment.
• Perform all maintenance and some repair on laboratory equipment.
• Perform all OSHA and ANSI tests for safety compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure quality eyewear is delivered to Wheaton Eye Clinic customers in a timely manner.
