About AngelList:

We exist to accelerate innovation by increasing the number of successful startups in the world. We want to give more people the opportunity to participate in the venture economy by building the financial infrastructure that makes it possible for more people to invest in world changing startups, and build tools for startups that help them run their operations so they can focus on building.

AngelList is the nexus of venture capital and the startup community. We support over $171B+ assets on our platform, and we’ve driven capital to over 13,000 startups. 57% of top-tier U.S. VC deals involve investors on AngelList.

While our scale is large, our ambitions are even larger – we’re innovating on the financial infrastructure for venture investors and the startups they invest in. Come build with us.

About the Role:

AngelList is looking for a sharp, execution-focused Product Counsel to help us build the legal infrastructure for the next generation of private market innovation. Legal innovation is a core strategy at AngeLlist. Our ability to design new legal frameworks has made products like Rolling Funds, RUVs, and Full Service Fund Management possible. Where most legal teams interpret rules, we push the boundaries of what's possible while staying compliant in one of the most tightly regulated industries in the world.

You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, and business teams to structure and scale new financial tools for GPs, LPs, and Founders. You’ll work on highly regulated, zero-margin-for-error products like fund formation, investor onboarding, capital calls, and data infrastructure—all while helping us shape the regulatory playbook for the private markets of tomorrow. This role reports directly to the General Counsel of Product.

This is not a back-office legal role. We ship fast, and you’ll be expected to keep pace. You should be energized by ambiguity, allergic to boilerplate, and eager to collaborate cross-functionally with operators, engineers, and other lawyers. We’re looking for someone with sound judgment, a high ownership bar, and a track record of independently driving outcomes in complex environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as embedded counsel to product teams across the full lifecycle—development, launch, scale, and maintenance.
  • Partner on product design and risk management for both new and existing infrastructure, including Meridian and more.
  • Analyze and advise on regulatory implications across securities laws, privacy frameworks, and compliance regimes (e.g., 33 Act, 34 Act, ICA, IAA, GDPR, CCPA).
  • Draft, review, and evolve foundational legal documents for fund products and investor tools.
  • Design scalable legal processes that enable product velocity without compromising compliance.
  • Collaborate with compliance, BD, engineering, and marketing to align legal strategy with business goals.
  • Train internal teams on legal implications of product decisions and evolving regulatory standards.

  • What we’re looking for:
  • JD from a top-tier law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • 6–10 years of legal experience, with a strong tilt toward fintech, venture capital, or SaaS platforms.
  • Expertise in product counseling with a working knowledge of securities law, privacy, and data.
  • Demonstrated ability to own complex initiatives independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Comfortable navigating legal ambiguity in fast-moving, zero-mistake product environments.
  • Strong communication skills—able to translate complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • High output. Clear thinker. Strong point of view. Values-aligned.
