Provides technical support on health, safety and environmental to production and site personnel under the guidance of the site HSE leader. Assists in the analysis, review and sustainability of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Plan Maintains skills and knowledge required to perform job duties. Determine gaps within corporate HSE initiatives and local health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Build an understanding of and applies HSE culture ensuring it is integral to processes. Maintain confidentiality and appropriate recordkeeping standards in line with corporate data protection and retention requirements. Do Stop work and immediately report any major injury hazards. Report any work-related injury, illness, incident or hazard through internal reporting processes. Work as a HSE resource and provide guidance to the site on reporting processes. Support the implementation and maintenance of hazard identification, incident investigation and risk assessments processes. Support closure of corrective and preventive actions. Communicate effectively to create HSE awareness. Supports environmental management activities. Perform basic administrative tasks as required. Check Participate in HSE inspection and audit programs. Actively participate and lead incident investigation and reporting. Gathers data for the analysis of HSE related trends. Act Assists in maintenance of local HSE policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Support health, safety, environmental and wellness initiatives. Support maintenance of Emergency Response processes. Participate in local employee engagement initiatives to drive an interdependent culture. Quality Follows all applicable standard work, process documentation and quality procedures. Raises issues to minimize cost and quality exposures. Performs quality checks. Identifies and controls non-conforming material. Teamwork Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams. Completes training and personal development in line with business requirements. Participates actively in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Environmental reporting and data collection duties (Industrial Hygiene tasks, Hazardous and Non-hazardous waste disposal, waste profiles, RCRA, DOT, 49CFR, HAZWOPER, etc.)
- Responsible for registering and filing state/federal permitting data
- Assist in maintaining and updating assigned policies and procedures within ETQ system.
- Create and audit JSA on all equipment
- Assist LOTO procedure audits and machine audits on all equipment
- Provide support to plant supervision and employees.
- Respond to EE’s questions and concerns through Safety Alert System and helps make improvements
- Fire protection – complete monthly fire extinguisher inspections, monthly fire suppression testing, and fire protection audits
- Completes assigned audits of various safety and/or environmental related compliance items throughout the facility (for example, ladder audits, fire extinguishers, 1st Aid supplies, etc.) on time and with high accuracy.
- Assist in closure of corrective and preventative actions
- Participate in HSE inspection and audit programs
- Help conduct safety training, Contractor/Visitor Safety training, Conduct safety audits and training
- Participate in emergency response drills; support emergency response teams
- Assist in management of the Contractor Safety program
- Knowledge of Incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Conduct safety & environmental audits on time and with high accuracy
- Assist in maintaining electronic and paper SDS as well as chemical labels
- Support the implementation and maintenance of hazard identification, incident investigation and risk assessment processes.
- Assist in a variety of administrative tasks
- Scanning/filing/maintaining records
- Enters data in various data bases
- Assists with maintaining SDS for the facility
- Perform other duties as directed by the HSE Manager

- Demonstrated PC skills, including Microsoft applications like word, access, and excel.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and support 3 shift operation (holiday shut-down work required, occasional weekend OT as needed)
Qualifications
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations. A college or equivalent degree degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability or related field preferred.
