About the Department


 

Performs a variety of analytical and technical tasks relating to installation, implementation, operation, and maintenance of in-house computer services and systems. Performs as an Information Technology (IT) team member and works within team structure to promote quality IT Department and College services to customers/partners while achieving respective goals, objectives, and mission. Performs a variety of technical duties related to implementation and maintenance of in-house computer services, systems and equipment.

Position Duties


 

  1. Operates audio/visual equipment in shared spaces and individual workspaces.
  2. Instructs end-users on best use of Audio Visual (AV) systems. Troubleshoots AV related incidents.
  3. Maintains equipment such as, but not limited to media controllers, projectors, TVs, monitors, cameras, and microphones.
  4. According to a prescribed schedule, regularly monitors AV equipment to ensure they are in proper working order.
  5. Supports College sponsored events by assisting in computer/AV connectivity and to share/present content.
  6. Assists Network Engineer(s) with network connectivity within and between MDF and IDFs.
  7. Works with outside vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure structured cable installation is tested properly.
  8. Maintain accurate and proper labeling consistent with established College standards.
  9. Ability to use various hand tools such as punch tools, test equipment, and various power tools like hammer drills and saws.
  10. Installs, configures, tests, end user computer hardware, software and peripherals.
  11. Performs analysis, diagnosis and resolution of computers and peripherals and coordinates corrective hardware/software solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
  12. Resolves network connectivity incidents related to computers and associated peripherals.
  13. Supports faculty and staff with technical issues, including remote campuses.
  14. Deploys computer images to new and re-purposed computers.
  15. Assign software licenses to appropriate personnel according to their needs.
  16. Performs other related duties as required.

 

 

SHARED IT RESPONSIBILITES AND TASKS

  1. Performs as an Information Technology (IT) team member and works within team structure to promote quality IT Department and College services to customers/partners while achieving respective goals, objectives, and mission.
  2. Performs computer hardware and software installation and maintenance. Monitors and documents systems operations to insure optimal performance.
  3. Assists users to understand software applications, orients, and trains users in software applications.
  4. Supports faculty and staff with IT related issues and focuses on developing highly interactive relationships through customer service skills.
  5. Coordinates projects and IT Service Request priorities with other team members, customers, and partners to provide quality customer service.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IT industry as it related to the technologies identified as primary responsibilities including awareness of new or revised solutions and improved processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years of PC/LAN experience.
  • Basic understanding of PC architecture and operation of both hardware and software.
  • Basic understanding of LAN concepts, topologies, cabling plans, network hardware, and network operating systems.
  • Must possess good PC/LAN trouble shooting techniques.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Certificate from a Technical College.
  • Experience with imaging.
  • Certification in A+ and BICSI I.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and manage work assignments in a high interpersonal contact environment.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stress caused by work load and time deadlines.
