Position Duties

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a dedicated and experienced law enforcement professional to serve as Lieutenant of Criminal Investigations. This leadership role oversees detectives and specialized units, ensuring investigations are conducted effectively, lawfully, and in line with Department policies. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and supervise detectives, Court Services/Civil Process, and MEG Unit deputies.

  • Manage investigative reports, scheduling, and case assignments.

  • Serve as Officer in Charge during high-risk incidents (SWAT, natural disasters, hazmat).

  • Develop and implement investigative policies and crime reduction strategies.

  • Oversee juvenile and special investigations, confidential informant files, and Division records.

  • Act as liaison with the District Attorney’s Office and partner agencies.

  • Conduct employee evaluations and internal investigations when required.

  • Stay current with investigative technologies and enforcement methods.

  • Serve as Public Information Officer when assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in criminal justice or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as Detective, Sergeant, or higher rank preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage complex investigations and perform effectively under pressure.

  • Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and community engagement.

Other Qualifications

Primarily Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with flexibility for overtime or special assignments.
