Material Handlers work in warehouses and production facilities to move products. This might mean finding materials on the shelves and wrapping them and putting them on a delivery truck or pulling materials off the truck and putting them in the proper shelf spot. Material handlers make sure production areas are fully stocked and have the products they need to fulfill orders and move quickly, sometimes working with automated machines or sensors to fulfill the orders.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Maintain a safe work environment always.

    Quickly and safely evaluate and identify the needed materials, tooling, and steps necessary to finish the needed task.

    Load and unload equipment and check for any damage.

    Responsible for the maintaining trash in mechanics bays and on shop floor, yard, and equipment.

    Monitor inventory in yard and oversee incoming/ outgoing freight.

    Perform any other duties as assigned.

    Unload trucks using a forklift from either the ground or dock.

    Receive parts into warehouse, check for accuracy, label as needed and stock.

    Pull parts orders for delivery.

    Assist other as needed.

    Keeps work are clean and orderly.

    Inspects truck or automobile equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water. Washes vehicle a minimum of once a week.

    Drives truck or equipment to assigned location.

    Pick up parts and equipment from customers, and vendors, coordinating with Warehouse Manager, Parts Manager, Parts Counter or Warehouse staff.

    Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions.

    Cleans inside of truck. Performs routine maintenance on truck or equipment.

    Must have a working knowledge and understanding of safety requirements, and practice them.

    Completes a log at the time of delivery and requests recipient's signature.

    Turns in all paperwork and undelivered parts.

    Maintains professional appearance of the Parts Department and represents the Company by professional demeanor, being courteous with all those coming into contact.

    Reports accidents to HR immediately, obtaining names, license numbers and other details.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Ability to use carts, forklifts, hand truck, pallet, jack and equipment of such nature

    Frequent lifting of 60-100 pounds

    Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day

    Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.
