How you’ll contribute 
A Radiology Tech who excels in this role:

  • The Technologist selects and operates all radiology equipment as directed and provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Checks patient’s chart to confirm order and checks arm bands to confirm identity.
  • Moves X-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.
  • Operates mobile X-ray equipment in Operating Room, Emergency Room, or at patient’s bedside.
  • Cleans all equipment before and after each patient use.  Portable equipment to be upon entering and leaving patient area.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Questions female patients regarding the possibility of pregnancy.
  • Able to determine when to use immobilization devices as required (use of compression bands, Pigg-O-Stat, papoose board, etc.)
  • Ability to determine use of slider board to move patients of all ages when needed; the use of heel and elbow protectors for geriatric patients as needed; use of table pads as needed and consideration of pathology such as emphysema, osteoporosis, etc. in techniques used.
  • Able to evaluate patients condition and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Operate CR units in Radiology and be able to transfer images to PACS. Route images and burn CD’s as needed.
  • Check supplies in radiology rooms and notify supervisor of any needed supplies.
  • Perform physical assessment by interviewing, recording and interpreting medical and social history of the patient.
  • Develop an accurate identification of patient’s health problems based upon correct interpretation of findings, record findings, lab and/or diagnostic results and existing medical records. 
  • Develop, implement and coordinate all aspects of comprehensive health care plans for patients.
  • Manage the plan of care by monitoring the client’s response to the therapeutic regimen, recording patient’s progress, and counseling if needed.
  • Order lab tests or diagnostic procedures; initiate referrals to other health care providers and/or consulting physicians as needed.
  • Coordinate all aspects of patient care, discharge and follow-up plans.
  • Facilitate interaction and cooperation among health care staff involved in the planning and provision of health care.
  • Prescribe medication according to State, Federal, and organization guidelines.
  • Maintain current technical knowledge and seek educational and professional opportunities to enhance clinical practice and competency.
  • Review patient’s records, along with physician, to ensure a complete assessment of need.
  • Ability to work independently.

What we’re looking for: Applicants must have successfully passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and have completed two (2) years of training in a formal accredited school of Radiologic Technology. Additional requirements include:
•    BLS certification. 
•    Cross training as appropriate.
•    One (1) year of experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.
