As a Sr. Control System Engineer and member of the Acrylics Process Management Team in Freeport, you will help provide and maintain safe and reliable control systems capabilities within the unit, performing as necessary to achieve key functional and safety obligations. This includes leadership of the area’s control systems migration and lifecycle process, providing maintenance recommendations and oversight for installed base equipment, membership on key site teams, and coordination with Operations, Technology, and Maintenance personnel.

- Supporting capital and maintenance projects in the Acrylics unit that require interface to control systems throughout conception, design, implementation, and commissioning. This can include serving as the designated manufacturing and technical representative.
- Developing and ensuring maintenance of databases for key advanced process control installations and help ensure their functionality and sustainability.
- Developing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining manuals for all systems in the production unit, being responsible for the standardization and quality of all configurations.
- Programming HMI, DCS and (Safety)PLC’s using Function Block Diagrams, Ladder Logic and Sequential Function Logic and SIS and other instrument testing assistance as needed.
- Assisting in configuration, preventative maintenance, hardware/software support, spare parts management and administration for unit DCS and control systems.
- Developing and maintaining long-term control system migration plans for the plant in alignment with all concerned parties and assist with the MOC process.
- Tracking Total Cost of Ownership for control systems, including monitoring failures, assisting in initial hardware installations, maintenance contract tracking and communication, optimizing software version upgrades and addressing vendor liaison issues.
- Performing advanced control and graphic configuration as a subject matter expert.
- Participating in Peer Working Groups and work with other Control Systems Engineers, IE Maintenance Engineers, Technologists and Technicians to increase standardization of process control systems across the Freeport site.
If you...
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer, Chemical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Have relevant work experience in chemical manufacturing, refining, or similar industry with emphasis on strong technical knowledge in process controls, networking, security, field instrumentation, and control systems.
- Possess at least 7 years of experience with DCS and/or PLC programming, controls systems, automation, and instrumentation.
- Have strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
- Are available on-call, should you need to respond to any after-hours event that impacts production or EHS.
