About the Department

Definition:  Under supervision of the Marketing and Communications Manager, this position focuses on supporting the promotion of River People Health Center efforts within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and serves as resource and point-of-contact for guests visiting the River People Health Center and   promotional activities to raise the visibility and awareness of the River People Health Center brand with the public and visitors.  This job class is treated as FLSA non-exempt.

Position Duties

1. Community Strategic Marketing:   

  • Maintains a well-informed working knowledge of the River People Health Center services available SRPMIC members and other members of Federal Recognized Tribes. 

 

2. Patient Experience:  

  • Receives and greets visitors and directs them to appropriate department or requested service.
  • Answers routine questions about services available at River People Health Center.  
  • Answers multi-line phone and provides requested information or directs callers appropriately.
  • Fulfills collateral and informational requests as needed. 
  • Assists visitors as needed such as with wheelchairs or walkers. 

 

3. Events and Outreach:  

  • Assists Marketing department with outreach efforts which includes but is not limited to, administering surveys, collecting visitor demographic data, assisting at events, set up and break down of booths or events tables.

 

4. Reporting and Administration:   

  • Advocates for excellent communication and cooperation amongst the River People Health Center departments. 

 

6. Miscellaneous:   

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned by the HHS Director or Marketing & Communication Manager, Community Manager or Tribal Council.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Skill establishing effective working relationships at all levels of the Community including the Tribal Council, Government officials, employees, employers etc.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff and the public Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.


  • Ability to be flexible, adaptive and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to memorize scripts, facts and share them in a fun, engaging and effective way to guests.
  • Ability to make effective, concise and comprehensive verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use a personal computer. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to push a wheel chair-bound person from the parking lot through the RPHC building
  • Ability to drive a golf cart

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:   One (1) year demonstrated successful experience in customer service or closely related field required. Knowledge of the SRPMIC highly preferred.

 

Equivalency:  Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered.

 

Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill

Other Qualifications

May be required to work beyond normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays. 


Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check. Employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
