The Athletic Department has an opening for a qualified strength and conditioning coach. Greenhills School is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide off-season and in-season strength and conditioning training for groups of students-athletes. Training sessions primarily take place immediately after school, 3:15pm - 4:30pm, though additional training may be coordinated with the Director of Athletics.
- Effectively design programs based on student-athlete needs, goals and professional guidelines.
- Collaborate with sport-specific head coaches on the needs of student-athletes.
- Practice thorough teaching principles and provide appropriate safety information to aid in the prevention of injuries.
- Provides proper instruction and motivation for participants at all levels of skill and fitness levels.
- Comply and meet all Greenhills procedures and policies as outlined in the MHSAA and Greenhills coaches handbooks.
- Knows and enforces facility rules.
- Teaches and performs weight room etiquette including: wiping down equipment after usage, re-racking weights, sharing of equipment, not sitting on machines between sets, etc.
- Promote a positive attitude and academic achievement
- Support and encourage multiple sport participation for students
- Serve as a role model in maintaining appropriate standards of care for students and maintaining healthy boundaries in student and professional relationships
Requirements
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum one-year experience teaching and proficient in multiple fitness disciplines such as HIIT, strength training, aerobics, cardio, small group personal training, or a variety of fitness classes including kickboxing, stability balls, stretch bands, core balls and low-impact conditioning. Some instructional experience must be at the intermediate level and be sufficient to teach fitness to student-athletes of all skill levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Nutrition, or similar field, preferred.
- CSCS certification is highly preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification will be required.
- Concussion Education and Athlete Safety course will be required
- Strong enthusiasm for the fitness lifestyle and familiar with fitness trends
- Ability to work and communicate with all ages
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work is conducted primarily in an athletic environment/gymnasiums, fitness centers and outdoor athletic venues
- Use fitness and athletic equipment
- Physical agility to frequently lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, stand, walk, and reach overhead.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs
- Work in and exposed to outdoor weather elements
