GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides subject matter expertise on KCATA operations scheduling for the production of fixed route transit service. Schedules manpower and equipment and interacts with other departments, including quarterly run cuts, systems data export management, performance analysis and KPIs, and operations-scheduling SME for team-based planning activities. Oversees optimization of agency practices related the production of fixed route transit service and coordination with on-demand mobility services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  1. Assists in the management for manpower and vehicle deployment planning for current and planned systems, including Streetcar and community properties.  
  2. Assists with producing planning products such as quarterly KPI reports, special service planning reports, and future service scenario reports.
  3. Translates collective bargaining agreement (CBA) contract language into mathematical constraints. 
  4. Provides planning support for NTD, Title 6, special service, and KPIs. 
  5. Performs data import and export duties. Conceptualizes and reworks data relationships.
  6. Acts as technical point of contact for scheduling and operations management platform.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Accounting, Economics, Urban Planning or a related field.
  • Experience in transit operations, statistical analysis, project management, and planning.
  • An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
  • Experience with Trapeze/Vontas scheduling solutions preferred.

  • Fixed bus route systems and operating process.

  • Interact professionally with various levels of KCATA employees and outside representatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and correspondence.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • Will work in a normal office environment.  Will sometimes be required to work and/or attend meetings or events in public and at all RideKC locations.
  • Monday through Friday 8am until 5pm.
  • Occasional abnormal hours are expected and required for specific events and to reach all employees.

 

TRAVEL   

  • Travel within the metropolitan will be required.

  • This position is relative free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards and is generally sedentary. Incumbents may be required to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
