About the Department
The individual occupying this position is responsible for providing direction to firefighters in areas of fire suppression, fire training, apparatus/equipment readiness, safety, and facility cleanliness.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
One (1) year of service in the Matanuska Susitna Borough Fire Service Area. Familiarity with supervisory principles and practices. Prior training in strategy and tactics.

State of Alaska Firefighter I certification.
Apparatus engineer certification.
Apparatus engineer certification.
Current First-Aid and CPR certifications
Valid Alaska driver's license required with an acceptable driving record and criminal history.
Blood Borne Pathogens and HazCom courses required prior to initial assignment or within ten days of hire, whichever comes first.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700 within ninety (90) days of hire, ICS 300 within nine (9) months of hire, and ICS 200 and IS 800 within one (1) year of hire.
Desired Qualifications:
Alaska Structural Forces Wildland Interface Certification.
State of Alaska FFII certification
