Position: FLEX 2nd Shift Hospitality Cashier
Salary: $16.00/Hourly, plus shift and weekend differential, if applicable
Location: Resort Division
Reports to: Hospitality Director
Possible Gaming License Requirement: A gaming license is required in this role if the employee reaches a salary threshold of $50,000/year.
Summary: The Hospitality Cashier welcomes guests to the gift shop in a friendly, courteous manner; working to achieve a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction. As the Hospitality Cashier, you will greet guests positively, treating each person as an individual, and in a professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Must attend all training provided by the North Star Mohican Casino Resort.
- Must adhere to all established rules, regulations, procedures, and policies of North Star Mohican Casino Resort and the Food & Beverage Department.
- Must participate in an employee random drug testing program.
- Must be able to work with a variety of people with diverse personalities.
- Must attend all meetings, as assigned.
- Must wear the approved departmental uniform.
- Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
- Must maintain compliance with all workplace policies, procedures, ordinances, laws, and other communicated expectations, including but not limited to: Employment Manual, gaming
- Ordinance, State Gaming Compact, Minimum Internal Controls, Department Procedures, memos, and other communication from supervisory or regulatory personnel.
- Provide prompt, efficient, and courteous service to guests.
- Perform all functions of the cash register, including acceptance of payment for retail sales, in the form of cash, credit card, checks, purchase orders, etc.
- Become familiar with all gift shop items and inventory and aid and information to guests.
- Responsible for stocking, cleaning, dusting, folding clothing, maintaining shelves, rotating cigarettes, etc.
- Answer telephone calls appropriately according to procedures.
- Process monetary transactions with guests. Adhere to all revenue handling policies and procedures.
- Maintain and verify cash drawers daily; keep cash drawers supplied with sufficient monies.
- Communicate relevant information to the following shift.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for guests and fellow associates.
- Keep the work area neat, clean, and stocked with needed supplies.
- Report any guest complaints or concerns to the immediate supervisor for resolution.
- Be knowledgeable of the facility, as location of restrooms and telephones, hours of operations, etc. and be able to efficiently handle guest inquiries.
- Understand the goals and vision of the organization and demonstrate commitment to those goals in terms of individual and team performance.
- Perform as a team member and assist fellow associates to ensure smooth operation.
- Prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- This position will be required to aid in other venues of the hospitality division.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated courtesy and friendliness.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Minimum of six (6) months of customer service experience preferred.
- Previous cash handling experience preferred.
- Experience in gift shop operations, hospitality or retail preferred.
- Basic math skills including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Mobility throughout the shift, including maneuvering through crowded areas.
- Willingness to submit to background checks and pre-employment screenings.
- Flexibility to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
- Willingness to engage in self-development and adapt to change. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Work Conditions
- Constant hand movements and use of finger dexterity.
- Walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and bending.
- Occasional pushing/pulling, lifting, and/or moving up to thirty (30) pounds.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Reading and writing as needed.
- Work is generally performed in a casino setting with a higher noise level and prevalent cigarette smoke.
- Nonsmoking work environment with varied noise levels and dust-free conditions.
