Minimum Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Requires a current Department of Transportation medical certificate
- Must become a member of the Hawaii Teamsters and Allied Workers Local 996
Duties and/or Responsibilities
- Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained. Conduct standard pre- and post-operational inspections/services (oil, water, fuel, tires, etc.) when required.
- Operates an electric welding machine, acetylene torch and other welding or shop equipment as required.
- Use of specific types of welding rods when necessary to make specialized and basic welds.
- Reads blueprints, lays out, fabricates and cuts.
- Use hand and power tools commone to their trade.
- Drives or operates equipment or machinery incidental to other duties. Must have and maintain in good standing a current and valid DOT medical certificate.
- May do pipe work.
- Assists other trades people when necessary.
- May direct other employees assigned to assist in the performance of specific projects.
- Always works safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors and immediately report any unsafe condition(s) and mechanical defect(s) on equipment. Reports unsafe conditions and mechanical defects.
- Follows established procedures in preparing necessary reports, requisitions, parts requests, etc.
- Operates mobile equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, man lifts, etc.
- Responsible for cleanliness and proper appearance of work area.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
