Overview:

We are seeking a Patient Account Registrar, sometimes referred to as an Admission Representative. The Account Registrar will work in bed management and will have no direct patient contact, playing an important role in the coordination of bed management and direct admits within the facility. Their primary focus is ensuring efficient use of hospital beds and maintaining up-to-date and accurate records in collaboration with staff and physicians. This role is essential for streamlining hospital operations, reducing wait times, and ensuring the optimal use of resources, all while focusing on staff and physician interactions rather than patient-facing duties.

Employment Type: Full Time 

Hours: 8-hour shifts 

Location: Dallas Medical Center - Farmers Branch, TX

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Schedule patient appointments, clinic visits such as surgery, G.I. Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Nutritional Services, Infusion units or any other location where scheduling of a test or procedure may occur  
  • Greet and register patients upon arrival, collect and verify personal, medical, and insurance information for accurate hospital records, and obtain necessary signatures on consent forms, privacy notices, and billing authorizations  
  • Ensure that accurate, complete and thorough patient demographics are entered into the computer system, including insurance and authorizations, if applicable  
  • Notify departments as necessary of various services that may require, equipment, instrumentation and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries  
  • Prepare and distribute the surgical schedule and on call list to appropriate departments or personnel  
Qualifications:
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  
 
1. Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
3. Effective written and verbal communication skills
4. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
5. Analytical and problem-solving skills
6. Customer Services experience required
7. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent  Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
