Senior Technical Product Manager (TPM)
Location: Arizona
Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Lead TPM
About the Role
A Senior Technical Product Manager (TPM) is a unique member of the development team who supports the delivery of valuable features by owning the alignment of business needs and product development activities. Acting as a bridge between stakeholders and development teams, the TPM owns both the clarity of the problem space and the integrity of the delivery process— similar to roles like Business Analyst and Agile Product Owner—but with deeper involvement in the full software delivery lifecycle.
This role will have a major focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate software development. The Senior TPM will help shape internal AI agents and tools that support the delivery of business features. The Senior TPM will also support healthy Agile practices by helping the development team uphold agreed-upon processes, maintain Jira discipline, and continuously improve team operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Pre-Development (Planning Phase):
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize business needs.
- Develop AI tools to transform requirements into drafts of code, tests, and other artifacts.
- Translate complex business problems into technical requirements, which can be used by AI to generate code to produce features.
- Partner with engineering to generate and assess code against business needs.
- Define scope, milestones, and delivery timelines.
- Contribute to PI Planning and roadmap development.
Development Phase (During Sprints):
- Serve as the main point of contact for feature clarifications, task breakdowns, and inter-team coordination.
- Write and maintain high-quality task descriptions and supporting documentation in Jira and Confluence.
- Help enforce Agile practices and uphold the team’s operational processes—standups, retrospectives, sprint boards, etc.
- Maintain Jira hygiene by ensuring tasks are accurately estimated, properly transitioned, and reflect current status.
- Identify and remove blockers, manage feedback loops, and communicate project health clearly.
Post-Development (Validation & Delivery):
- Oversee UAT and validation of delivered work, especially for artifacts generated by AI that require nuanced verification of value and risk.
- Is responsible for signing off on features.
- Create clear, actionable documentation for end users, support teams, and client-facing groups (e.g., implementation guides, how-to docs).
- Support go-to-market efforts and post-launch improvements by analyzing outcomes and coordinating with business owners.
What Sets a Senior TPM Apart
- Owns and supports high-complexity initiatives.
- Proactively drives collaboration across departments to align on goals, mitigate risks, and deliver cross-functional value.
- Maintains a deep awareness of project health, process adherence, and team dynamics—acting as a steward of both delivery and discipline.
- Coaches other TPMs and teammates on best practices in backlog hygiene, requirement clarity, and agile execution.
- Acts as a thought partner for stakeholders, helping shape use cases, refine hypotheses, and ensure precise implementation.
- Explores AI opportunities and influences broader adoption of AI tools.
