The Lead Operator is responsible for overseeing and assisting Machine Operators to ensure they operate and maintain injection-molding presses or other manufacturing equipment safely. You will also ensure product is being produced per the Quality Inspection Plan to assure conformance to customer requirements are met. This role also provides direction and assists Operators for each scheduled break. The Lead Operator continuously monitors and ensures work policies and procedures are being followed at each press in assigned section.

Schedule & Compensation:

Plastech Corporation pays on a weekly basis. This position is on a 6&3 rotating schedule which means you will work 6 days and have the next 3 days off in a row. 

Hours Available:
  • 1st Shift - 7:00am to 3:30pm - $16.50 per hour
  • 2nd Shift - 3:00pm to 11:30pm - $17.50 per hour
  • 3rd Shift - 11:00pm-7:30am - $18.50 per hour
***External candidates receive a $500 BONUS after 90 days of employment (must meet performance and attendance requirements).

Essential Functions:

  • Provides direction and assists operators when needed. Relieves Press Operators for each scheduled break.
  • Continuously monitors and ensures work policies and procedures are being followed at each press in assigned section.
  • Inspects parts for visual defects such as shorts, flash, contamination, etc. in cooperation with the QA Technicians ensuring conformance to product specifications.
  • Supplies each press in assigned section with the necessary materials needed for upcoming jobs such as packaging, components, labels, etc. Also continuously supplies materials throughout the shift to keep each job running.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment. Identifies and resolves potential safety hazards.
  • Completes Lead Operator count sheet to keep track of product being taken off the production floor and brought to warehouse. Also ensures the press operator is entering scrap into the IQMS Real Time Monitoring System.
  • Coordinates with the other Lead Operators and the Operator Supervisor on all production and personnel matters as needed to meet work objectives.
  • Works closely with the Operator Supervisor on coordinating training new employees and coordinating the daily work of the Press Operators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):

Knowledge, Education, Experience and/or Certifications:
  • Preferred one year experience in manufacturing and/or assembly line or related production.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Picture Packet, IOP, procedure manual, and safety rules.
  • Fill out general communication paperwork in written form legibly so as to be understood.
  • Must be able to verbally pass on information to the next shift.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but non-engaging, written and oral instructions.
