Job Summary
The UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (OR) consists of 11 surgical suites and 2 procedural. Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing.
Services include, but are not limited to: Neurology, Ortho/Spine, Otolaryngology, Urology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Dental, Cardiac, General Surgery, GI, Hem/Onc.
All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided. Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.
Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Under minimal supervision, function primarily as a scrub and/or circulating nurse within the Operating Room.
- Completion of AORN Periop 101 with 2 years experience or 5 years experience in the Operating Room of a level 3 or 4 Acute Care Facility
- Current experience in the Operating Room of an acute care setting
- Proficiency, ability to independently circulate, in at least 3 of the following services: General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics/Spine, Otolaryngology/Airway, GU, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Cardiac.
- Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently and under pressure.
- Basic computer keyboard skills and general PC knowledge.

- Required On-Call commitment
Preferred Qualifications
- General Surgery, Ortho/Spine, Neuro, Cardiac experience desired
- CNOR
- BSN Preferred
- Proficient in Scrubbing role in at least 2 of services listed above
- Experience in Level 1 Trauma hospital
- Charge Nurse experience
License/Certification
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification
- Active American Heart Association PALS Certification
