Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Strategy and Content plays a critical leadership role at the Information Futures Lab (IFL), with a focus on advancing the strategic vision and impact of the State and Territory Alliance for Testing Network (STAT). Reporting to Associate Professor of the Practice, Health Services, Policy, and Practice (HSPP) and Director, Information Futures Lab, this position develops and executes content and engagement strategies focused on supporting the change management underway in public health organizations across the country. This includes strategic convening of key stakeholders, rapid sharing of emerging learnings, and co-creating content that illuminates how public health makes a difference in people’s lives.
The Assistant Director is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and managing the STAT Knowledge Hub—an innovative resource that supports the evolving information and training needs of the state public health workforce. The Assistant Director guides content strategy and development across multiple platforms, ensuring the timely, high-quality, and actionable provision of information on topics such as infectious disease surveillance, climate and health risks, vaccinations, and public health communication.
In addition, the Assistant Director contributes to strategic planning for IFL and STAT, manages cross-functional teams, oversees contracts and vendor relationships, and mentors’ students and junior staff . The Assistant Director uses creative and strategic thinking to translate complex information into accessible, impactful resources.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in public health, communications, project management, or related field required.
- 7 – 10 years of progressively responsible programmatic and/or managerial experience
- required.
- Experience in public health or government settings preferred.
Job Competencies
- Familiarity with the U.S. public health ecosystem (key stakeholders, concepts, opportunities, and challenges)
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, Adobe or other graphic design software, web design
- Knowledge and command of evolving social media platforms
- Ability to prioritize complex and at times competing goals
- Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve
- Ability to work with little supervision and also serve as a strong team member
- Ability to manage vendors and oversee contracts
- Ability to research, analyze, and summarize findings
- Ability to exercise restraint and discretion in matters that are confidential or otherwise sensitive
- Track record working successfully in rapid-response environments

- Some travel may be required
