As the Senior Director, Merchandising, you lead the regional product and assortment strategy for the EMEA region in alignment with our global product strategies and brand direction for long-range, profitable, seasonal assortments and line plans. You build, lead and mentor a team who create new ways of working across product lines and categories, to deliver a unique commercialization experience. Serving as the voice of our EMEA consumer, you translate our design vision into compelling, consumer-centric product framework plans, realized through merchandising execution. You build bridges within your teams and cross-functionally to ensure the Go to Market (GTM) plan is realized, guiding the representation of our product experience through all channels.
While this role will ideally be based out of our Munich office, we are open to hybrid work from another major city in our European market. This role will involve a high frequency of travel within the EMEA market as well as to our Headquarters in North Vancouver, BC.

The Regional Merchandising team is responsible for delivering regional, seasonal product assortments that support the overall global product direction and regional business achievement. In partnership with the Product Line Management (PLM), Merchandise Planning & Allocations, and Go-to-Market teams, Merchants drive company sales, gross margin, and inventory productivity goals, in both our wholesale and vertical channels. This team translates market and consumer insights into actionable product strategies, ensuring both global consistency and regional relevance.
If you were in the Senior Director, Merchandising EMEA role now, here are some of the core activities you would be responsible for:
Developing regional merchandising strategies for our Apparel, Footwear, Hardgoods & Accessories product categories across all sales channels in the EMEA market, in alignment with global brand and product direction
Building out a team of high performing merchants who oversee our Men’s, Women’s, Footwear, Hardgoods & Accessories, and Veilance product categories across the EMEA market
Building product positioning and assortment strategies based on consumer insights, market trends, and the competitive landscape
Leading the seasonal product buying and sales planning for the region to ensure profitable growth
Building the regional store assortment plans with input from existing store clusters, ensuring product mix, price architecture, and lifecycle management meet consumer demand
Acting as the voice of the region to our Global Product Management teams to ensure that regional needs for EMEA are integrated into the global line planning process, strengthening the connection between global and regional strategy and execution
Owning key KPIs for the EMEA market, including sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, and sell-through
Driving pricing, promotion, and inventory strategies to maximize profitability
Building strong relationships with regional commercial leaders to elevate retail and channel performance within region
Monitoring and analyzing consumer behaviours, market dynamics, and retail trends and translating insights into actionable recommendations to position Arc’teryx as a pinnacle brand
Serve as a key member of the EMEA leadership team, contributing to broader business strategy and decision-making
Encouraging innovation and exploration of new category opportunities to fuel growth
Championing digital and data-driven decision making in regional merchandising operations
Driving the development and implementation of tools to evolve regional merchandising operations and drive efficiencies
Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain

Partnering with global teams to test new product concepts in select markets and pilot new GTM approaches
Building a sustainable growth path for the region, balancing global brand priorities with local market opportunities

You have 12+ years’ experience in merchandising with product-led brands at both a global and regional level, and 7+ years’ experience building and leading a team
You are product-obsessed, with a drive for understanding the “why” behind new products, and an unparallel capacity for product knowledge
You have expertise in driving strategy, line planning and line architecture
You are willing and able to travel for up to 50% of your working time
You have a proven track record in developing and leading the execution of a multi-year business strategy
