Overview:
The Mechanic, Maintenance/Forklift is responsible for ensuring facility and equipment maintenance is performed and recorded to Company and customer standards.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance and inspections. Ensures the facility equipment is kept in good working order and that facility maintenance needs are met.
- May perform minor building projects, order parts and supplies, change light bulbs, hang signs or mirrors, access roof and minor mechanical repairs. Fully participates in Safety and 5S initiatives.
- Inspect equipment and supplies, such as: debris blower/vacuum, scrubber, power-washer, snowplow/blower, pallet jack, and forklift, cleaning supplies, and all chemicals used in the facility to ensure safe usage and storage.
- Control costs and promote positive customer relations by looking for ways to perform repairs without using an outside vendor.
- Load and unload - assists workers in loading and unloading, counting and verifying supplies, records, and pallets.
- Assist Sanitation/Maintenance Assistant personnel with building sanitation projects as needed.
Key Results:
- Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business process, increase proficiency and increase efficiency through waste elimination.
- Apply the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility.
- Position requires the incumbent’s performance to meet and occasionally exceed standards as set by the company for warehouse safety, food safety, sanitation, quality, productivity and customer service.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Two to three (2-3) years of maintenance experience.
- Must have knowledge of a variety of maintenance and mechanical skills.
- Must be able to work in high places and with a variety of power equipment and tools.
- Ability to maintain forklift, pallet jack, debris blower/vacuum, scrubber, power-washer, snow plow/blower, and pick up truck with plow.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write legibly
- Must have basic math skills
- Ability to make decisions on customer acceptance based on past experience and fitness for use.
- Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
- Must have good interpersonal skills.

The hourly wage for this position is $25.24.
