About the Department
Under general supervision is responsible for the supervision of tree trimmers work and personnel in the area of tree trimming or closely related field.
Because the Authority has a primary responsibility to serve the public 24 hours per day, an employee in this class is expected to work overtime as conditions demand and on short notice during emergency conditions.

Position Duties
- Supervises and coordinates activities of tree trimmers.
- Plans work schedules; supervises and instructs personnel in the execution of routine work.
- Clears right of way for construction and maintenance of power lines.
- Maintains cooperative relationships among workers.
- Prepares daily time records; resolves minor "on the job" problems ans they occur.
- Assists subordinates in performing duties when necessary.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Ensures that tools, equipment and work area are maintained in a clean and orderly manner; ensures that employees observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Performs work in accordance with safety regulations, company policy and OSHA standards.
- Assigns work to workers and reviews completed work to ensure that work is completed in accordance with specifications and instructions.
- Evaluates employees work performance and make recommendations for improving and upgrading their skills.
- Recommends or initiates personnel actions such as promotions, transfers and disciplinary measures.
- Trains and orients new employees to the routines of the operation; interprets company policies on workers.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems; may confer with worker's representatives to resolve grievances.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of line construction and distribution.
- Knowledge of the principals of electrical theory.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to supervise a hot line clearing from 0 – 24,900 volts.
- Ability to use tree trimming equipment.
- Ability to supervise a small crew.
- Ability to make simple arithmetical computations.
- Ability to write legibly.
- Physical stamina and agility sufficient to perform all duties or classification and work long hours as condition demand.
- Ability to operate and utilize personal computers and related peripherals.
Other Qualifications
Graduation from a technical school and five years of progressively responsible experience in tree trimming or closely related work.
