About the Department
South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks a highly motivated and qualified individual for the part-time position of Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 2 (ICST 2) to support the Learning Support Services East, a STEM-based Tutoring Center.
This position supports the administrative functions of the center while providing leadership and modeling exemplary tutoring practices for student tutors and staff, and assisting in the facilitation of their professional growth. This position also provides one-on-one and small group tutoring to help students increase their knowledge and confidence in their classes, and to develop effective learning strategies and study skills to succeed in their education.

Position Duties
The part-time ICST 2 will assist with learning course content and developing effective learning strategies, problem solving skills, and study habits. The ICST 2 will also:
- Maintain a safe, professional, and productive tutoring center space by doing general clean-up, enforcing center policies, answering phones, and providing excellent customer service
- Provide leadership to student tutors by exemplifying effective tutoring practices and standards of professionalism, advising tutors regarding center operations, and facilitating professional development activities
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to develop and deliver best practices in college tutoring
- Monitor daily needs of student tutors and office assistants
- Operate as a point of contact between student tutors and the learning center administrator
- Monitor staff and student interactions in their respective center
- Monitor the tutor schedule and adjust as needed
- Assist with staff scheduling
- Prepare, modify, and develop materials for instructional programming and professional learning (such as class visits, workshops, embedded tutoring, staff meetings, and / or staff training sessions)
- Present at academic workshops and conferences
- Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create and educational and work environment that affirms the college’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Support the college’s mission by creating a work environment of mutual respect and fairness while encouraging creative and critical thinking
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s (AA) degree
- Six months to two years experience in the appropriate discipline(s)

Conditions of Part-Time Employment
Non-permanent employees under the provisions of WAC 357-19-435 are only authorized to work up to a maximum of 1,050 hours in any twelve (12) consecutive- month period from the original date of hire. Employment with the college could end any time.
