Human Resources Specialist - Employee Relations
Description:
The HR Specialist - Employee Relations, plays a crucial role in managing Employee Relations and Title IX along with various HR functions for Pinnacle Charter School, including: maintaining positive and productive relationships between employees and management, ensuring a healthy work environment and compliance with employment laws. They will handle a variety of tasks, including full cycle employee experience, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, employee training, investigating workplace issues including Title IX and creating reports on these issues.

Direct Reports: This is a non-supervisory position.

Compensation:
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Salary range is $72,201 - $104,692 annually (depending on experience). See a detailed outline of benefits and additional compensation at the bottom of this posting.
Essential Functions:
HR Policy and Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date and maintain compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
- Ensure consistent and fair application of company policies and procedures related to employee relations.
Employee Relations, Support, and Engagement:
- Address and resolve employee complaints, disputes, and grievances, often through mediation or other appropriate methods.
- Conduct investigations into alleged misconduct or policy violations.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on various work-related issues, including performance management and career development.
- Support managers in the performance management process, including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between employees and management.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve employee morale, motivation, and overall engagement.
- Develop and deliver training programs on topics such as communication, conflict resolution, and diversity and inclusion.
Title IX:
Investigation Management:
- Conduct impartial investigations into allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, or misconduct involving students, employees, or third parties.
- Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses; gather and assess evidence including electronic records, documents, and physical evidence.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of all investigative activities.
- Prepare detailed investigative reports, summarizing evidence and findings.
- Present investigative findings to Title IX Coordinator and, where appropriate, to hearing officers or review panels.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the Title IX Coordinator, Human Resources, and C-suite officers.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with parties involved in investigations.
- Coordinate with law enforcement when necessary and in compliance with legal standards.
Compliance and Training:
- Ensure all investigations comply with Title IX regulations, Clery Act, VAWA, FERPA, and institutional policies.
- Stay up to date on federal and state laws and regulations affecting Title IX investigations.
- Participate in training programs for faculty, staff, and students to promote awareness of rights, responsibilities, and reporting mechanisms.
Full Cycle Employee Experience:
- Creates, updates, and maintains job descriptions while posting them on relevant job boards and developing key relationships with prospective recruiting sources.
- Coordinates the organization’s presence at recruitment and job fairs and creates and updates all recruitment materials in collaboration with the CHRO.
- Supports hiring managers throughout the hiring process by forming hiring committees, crafting interview questions, conducting reference checks, and managing approval processes.
- Determine candidate’s salary placement by verifying education, experience, and/or licensing.
- Oversees the end-to-end onboarding process for new hires, which includes processing new-hire paperwork such as I-9s, W-4s, and background checks, as well as coordinating new-hire orientation and preparing all necessary materials for new employees.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records and data.
- Manages the separation process for employees, including overseeing checkout procedures, handling COBRA administration, and completing additional paperwork.
- Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback from departing employees and identify areas for improvement.
Additionally:
- Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of HR experience required, which includes experience in hiring and employee relations.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required. Four (4) years of additional similar and relevant experience may be substituted for this requirement.
- SHRM-CP or PHR preferred

- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft suite, Google, and HRIS (Paylocity experience preferred)
- Experience in digital forms and records management

- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator

Working Conditions:
Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school/office environment with moderate noise level.
Mental Functions: Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.
Physical Activities: Office environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.
Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).
Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work-related functions.
