We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Maintenance Superintendent within our maintenance team to help support our bedding business. As a Maintenance Superintendent you will have the opportunity to work closely with all production supervisors, maintenance personnel and TPM coordinator. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by provide support and direction for the maintenance operations in our Drawn Wire manufacturing facility, while providing support to the Branch’s mission and vision.. So, what will you be doing as a Maintenance Superintendent?
- Manage Maintenance Personnel:
- Screen and help select maintenance personnel.
- Provide training and evaluate performance.
- Schedule maintenance personnel for projects and machine moves.
- Administer all branch policies fairly.
- Supervise maintenance staff and labor used.
- Machine Maintenance and Repair.
- Identify weaknesses in machines that create stoppage and correct.
- Communicate with the Branch Manager regarding problems and justify needs of repairs or machine improvements.
- Utilize maintenance staff to build or rebuild parts and review benefits.
- Install or move machinery with minimal down time.
- Hands-on involvement on production equipment to recognize machine problems and reduce them.
- Take care of safety problems utilizing maintenance personnel.
- Work with Superintendents and Supervisors on machine breakdowns to give quick response and results.
- Justify the need before ordering new parts that have been requested. Help determine minimums, maximums, and reorders levels.
- Work with utility companies to ensure they provide necessary services for the Branch.
- Hire and supervise outside contractors on maintenance projects.
- Preventative and Predictive Maintenance.
- Schedule planned maintenance functions and repairs while coordinating with production schedules.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System to support the maintenance PM, PDM, and work-order processes.
- Establish predictive maintenance needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of preventative maintenance.
- Maintain PM documents for ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
- Understand and use all emergency policies and procedures.
- Lead in use of continuous improvement tools to improve the branch performance.
- Review maintenance work order entries.
- Attend meetings and carry out assignments.
- Ensure maintenance area is clean and organized using TPM process.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Good communication skills.
- Understands Maintenance Excellence.
- Knowledge of CI tools to improve Branch performance.
- Ability to exemplify a cooperative attitude necessary to work with all department and management teams.
Things we consider a plus:
- Knowledge of the drawn wire manufacturing processes and equipment.
