Durham School Services and Petermann, subsidiaries of National Express, a well-known provider of School Bus Services in the United States and Canada has an immediate opening for a Diesel Bus Mechanic / Diesel Engine Specialist (Tech III). Key accountabilities for this position include customer satisfaction, productivity, technical skills and knowledge, teamwork, personal and facility image and safety as well as a commitment to Excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Provides support to the Maintenance Department and Technicians (e.g. vehicle washing, vehicle or facility cleaning, vehicle fueling, facility maintenance and repair etc.) in accordance with established schedules.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and brings any unsafe practices or conditions to the attention of supervisor.
- Records time and materials used for each assignment.
- Provides automotive repair and maintenance assistance to technical staff as assigned.
- Minimum recommended hand tools for Class III Mechanic
- High school graduate or equivalent education, training and experience
- Ideally have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems
- Must pass DOT pre-employment Physical, drug screen and background check
- A minimum of 1-3 years truck or automotive repair experience
- ASE Certification desirable but not required
- Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred) **Company has a free CDL training program for mechanics.
