JOB SUMMARY:
Dock Coordinator's job involves overseeing and managing all activities related to loading and unloading freight, ensuring efficient and safe operations, and coordinating with various teams to facilitate smooth logistics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate the movement of tools, materials, and freight at the docks.
- Ensure on-time mobilization of trades for dock activities.
- Coordinate between tool installation and base build dock usage.
- Manage and resolve dock and move-in conflicts and issues.
- Coordinate with Functional Area Teams (FATs), Tool Owners, Suppliers, and trades.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
Loading and Unloading:
- Supervise and direct the loading and unloading of freight.
- Ensure accurate loading and unloading procedures.
- Assist with the completion of loading and unloading tasks.
Inventory and Materials Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of materials.
- Inspect materials for damage or misrouting.
Safety and Cleanliness:
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the dock area.
- Perform cleaning activities in the work area.
- Ensure all items are picked up and off the dock prior to the end of the day.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with warehouse workers, drivers, and other stakeholders.
- Resolve issues and conflicts promptly.
- Take ownership of problems and drive to resolution.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Experience:
Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or a related field is often required.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of loading and unloading procedures, safety regulations, and inventory management systems.
Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Interpersonal Skills:
Good interpersonal skills for interacting with various teams and stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move materials, and operate dock equipment (e.g., forklifts).
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) at least 2 yrs. or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Possess or have ability to become forklift certified.
Driver’s License or equivalent
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents, including protocols, standard operating procedures, customer orders, and pick tickets.
REASONING ABILITY:
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
