I Heart Mac and Cheese is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in customizable. Made-to-order mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, and flatbreads. 

Role and Responsibilities

The Shift Leader position is responsible for providing exceptional guest service and support, while working closely with the Restaurant Manager and other Team Members to maintain operational standards and procedures on an assigned shift when management is not present. This position operates under the direction of the Restaurant Manager and assists in leading the restaurant team. This position includes direct interaction with guests, team members, corporate executives, personnel, and members of the I Heart Mac and Cheese Operations and Training Team.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to execute multiple tasks;
  • Willing to accomplish all restaurant tasks as assigned;
  • Ability to maintain inventory and manage labor during assigned shifts, including opening and closing of the restaurant;
  • Ability to provide direction to Team Members in a clear and concise way
  • Set an example for Team Members by working hard to implement shift plans and ensure swift and smooth production
  • Ability to delegate in a way that encourages teamwork during the shift
  • Execution of company standards, systems and recipes
  • Motivate Team Members to exceed guest expectations with accurate preparation and sale of items to maximize satisfaction
  • Follow and enforce safety, food safety and sanitation guidelines; comply with all applicable laws;
  • Maintain clean and neat work environment;
  • Takes initiative to immediately report any violations of company safety, sanitation, security and other company policies to the Restaurant Manager;
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with guests with a friendly, enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to resolve guest issues with tact;
  • Ability to respond positively to coaching and feedback
  • Ability to interact productively with co-workers and function well in a team environment;
  • Demonstrates local language proficiency that enables speech clarity, proficient reading and verbal comprehension.

Physical Requirements

Minimum physical requirements to perform the job effectively:

  • Must be able to manually lift and move up to 50 lbs. on occasion;
  • Must have the ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, and push;
  • Frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, cleaning and sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood, and produce items;
  • Frequent washing of hands.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High school or equivalent (Preferred);

Restaurant experience (Preferred).
