Job Summary: 

This position manages accounting functions, processes, and projects for HOLT Idealease, a medium and heavy-duty truck leasing and rental company. This entails guiding transactional level accounting processes associated with revenue recognition, cost accounting, the general ledger, and other key accounting areas. This position provids leadership and direction to the accounting/finance team members and works alongside operations managers to support their business goals

Essential Functions:

  • Contributes, along with direct supervisor, to the hiring, development, evaluation and influencing of effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service.
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Supports direct supervisor and other team members through planning, coordination, and implementation of special internal financial reports, assigned projects and activities.
  • Responsible for the execution of accounting functions to include the monthly financial close, posting of month end information, executing tax related reporting processes and the reconciliation of general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provides accounting assistance to business units, vendor payments, and responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.
  • Collaborates with other business units to support the successful execution of vendor payments and payment terms.
  • Recommends to direct supervisor the assignments and work of accounting staff to ensure department objectives are met timely.
  • Answers and resolves escalated customer (internal/external) questions and needs.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information and departmental metrics.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of business accounting principles, budget preparation, and strong business acumen.
  • Expert knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) as it applies to the industry and company.
  • Advanced knowledge of the fundamental audit strategies that include policies, procedures, and best practices in addition to emerging audit practices and trends.
  • Advanced understanding of MS Office products. Experience with various DMS/ERP systems required. 
  • Strong research, problem solving and investigation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including both written and oral.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, multi-tasking, and time management skills, deadline oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Experience in dealership or lease and rental operations and accounting is strongly preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or other accounting designation (CMA, CGMA) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of general ledger and technical accounting experience. 
  • Two years of supervisory or management experience required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Travel: 

  • Up to 25% to 50% may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.
  • This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 15 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment.
  • Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
