Job Summary 

The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) will assist with the development and implementation of the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS). The QAE will be responsible for inspecting purchased and fabricated items for compliance with engineering standards and documentation of said activities. Additionally, the QAE will be responsible for taking an active role in developing the processes and forms used in the QMS. As the QAE, inspecting items with great attention to detail and possessing strong analytical skills is expected. The QAE should be able to ensure efficient execution of inspection processes and promptly document any problems or discrepancies. Ultimately, the QAE must be able to work independently and provide value-added suggestions for improvement of existing processes. 


Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming items for compliance with engineering documentation.

• Inspect fabricated items for compliance with engineering documentation.

• Document non-conforming outputs.

• Present reports of relevant findings to management as required.

• Develop flow charts of existing processes.

• Identify value-added quality checks for In-Process inspections.

• Other duties as assigned. 


Knowledge & Skills Requirements

• Proficient with SharePoint, Power Automate, Microsoft Forms, Power BI, or other data analytics software.

• Possess a minimum of 5 years of mechanical assembly inspection experience in a machine shop, manufacturing, or construction environment.

• Proficient use of metrology equipment (Calipers, Tape measure, …)

• Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical documentation such as Work Instructions, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately inspect mechanical components and fabricated products.

• Exceptional listening, communication, and presentation skills (verbal and written).

• Must be able to work well with people at all levels of the organization.

• Must be able to work independently and as part of a diverse team of QAIs.

• Experience with MS-Office (especially Excel, Word). 


Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive engineering experience.

• Internal Auditing Experience.

• Forklift Operator Experience.

• Relevant Quality Assurance certifications (ASQ certifications preferred, e.g. Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).

• Relevant Six Sigma certifications (Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB), 5S Concept Certified (5SC).

• Work is performed in an open office environment that allows for collaboration inside and outside of your department.

• You must be able to operate standard office equipment (desktop, laptop, printer, scanner, etc.).

• Must be able to walk short distances and within the factory occasionally to perform job duties when necessary.

• You may be stationary at a laptop or desktop computer for most of your day, creating and compiling, preparing, and analyzing data that may include extensive reading and/or research.

• May have to express or exchange ideas verbally to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other employees accurately, loudly, or quickly.

• May spend 50% of their time in the Factory.
