TITLE:            Transportation Assistant Supervisor

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma;
  2. 5 Years School Bus Driver/Trainer Experience;
  3. Experience implementing school bus safety regulations, logistics, and school operations preferred;
  4. Valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, preferred.
  5. Such alternative experience or qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

REPORTS TO:         Transportation Supervisor

 

JOB GOAL:              Provide direct supervisory and administrative support to the

Transportation Supervisor in order to assure highly trained drivers, and to operate a safe and efficient school transportation system.

 

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborates with the supervisor to provided relevant trainings; assists with administering bus driver and bus assistant evaluations; and provides recommendations to the supervisor regarding staff employment status, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  2. Supervises and monitors the bus maintenance program to ensure required bus inspections are completed and remain compliant.
  3. Adhere to state and federal laws and regulations related to student transportation and safety.
  4. Ensure compliance with all safety standards and operational specifications for school buses.
  5. Coordinates with the supervisor and administrative staff to schedule all required driver training sessions.
  6. Oversees emergency preparedness efforts, to include bus safety drills, crisis-related transportation of students and staff by ensuring proper training and documents are maintained.
  7. Investigates and prepares accident reports for the Transportation Supervisor.
  8. Assists and supports the bus drivers in resolving student safety and discipline issues.
  9. Collaborates and advises the supervisor on weather related decisions impacting school operations.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Exempt position.  Twelve-month year.  Salary to be established by the Board.
