TITLE: Transportation Assistant Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma;
- 5 Years School Bus Driver/Trainer Experience;
- Experience implementing school bus safety regulations, logistics, and school operations preferred;
- Valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, preferred.
- Such alternative experience or qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
JOB GOAL: Provide direct supervisory and administrative support to the
Transportation Supervisor in order to assure highly trained drivers, and to operate a safe and efficient school transportation system.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with the supervisor to provided relevant trainings; assists with administering bus driver and bus assistant evaluations; and provides recommendations to the supervisor regarding staff employment status, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
- Supervises and monitors the bus maintenance program to ensure required bus inspections are completed and remain compliant.
- Adhere to state and federal laws and regulations related to student transportation and safety.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and operational specifications for school buses.
- Coordinates with the supervisor and administrative staff to schedule all required driver training sessions.
- Oversees emergency preparedness efforts, to include bus safety drills, crisis-related transportation of students and staff by ensuring proper training and documents are maintained.
- Investigates and prepares accident reports for the Transportation Supervisor.
- Assists and supports the bus drivers in resolving student safety and discipline issues.
- Collaborates and advises the supervisor on weather related decisions impacting school operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Exempt position. Twelve-month year. Salary to be established by the Board.
