Title: Teacher of Elementary Bilingual Education and ESL
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate effective lesson planning and lesson delivery, aligned to the NJSLS, by establishing clear objectives for optimal student learning, implementing grade-appropriate learning activities, and reliable assessments. Submit lesson plans when they are due.
Document and track student performance and progress using various assessment tools and approaches that are age-appropriate.
Create a classroom environment that is inviting to students, organized, attractive, and strategically arranged.
Provide a nurturing, trusting, and academic environment that fosters children’s development and physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and linguistic learning.
Differentiate academic and linguistic instruction for students at varying levels of attainment.
Develop learning activities that address the various types of learners through multi-modal and multiple intelligences.
Utilize bilingual language development theory and apply it to daily instruction.
Utilize WIDA English Language Development standards in daily instruction to develop English Language Proficiency..
Use a research-based approach to literacy and numeracy development.
Celebrate student successes and showcase student work.
Establish expectations for para-educators as well as monitor, direct, and provide feedback on their classroom support to ensure optimal student learning.
Use a variety of materials, equipment, technology, and resources in instruction.
Work closely with parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators to provide intervention when needed.
Maintain timely, accurate, and complete student records as required by the district and school administrators.
Collaborate with colleagues at team meetings and during other available professional time in Small and Larger Professional Learning Communities.
Maintain a reflective teaching practice.
Qualifications:
NJ Certification in Bilingual/Bicultural Education and ESL.
Demonstrate a love for working with children.
Strong background in literacy and numeracy development and Mathematical Practices.
Knowledge of effective use of technology in instruction, including gathering and managing student data.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, and ability to collaborate with colleagues.
