Work Schedule: Mon - Fri, daytime business hours

Responsible for financial reporting to meet management needs, and external and governmental requirements for the Health System, and assigned affiliate entities within the Health System.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

1. Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, current accounting and healthcare industry guidance and Health System policies for assigned entities.

2. Perform analysis of monthly financial statements, including explanation of significant variances, review of all judgmental areas and necessary accruals for proper presentation of operating results, and detailed analysis of specific line items for assigned entities.

3. Perform accounting functions across the Health System for assigned areas of responsibility.

4. Utilize financial systems and follow processes for recording transactions for assigned entities. Provide recommendations to enhance the integrity, efficiency and effectiveness of financial information, processes, and internal controls.

5. Work collaboratively with members of the Finance team and serve as a role model to Accounting staff. Mentor, train, and supervise assigned accounting personnel.

6. Provide excellent customer service in response to inquiries from other departments within the Health System, as well as external parties.

7. Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts for all assigned entities.

8. Perform financial analysis of business transactions and clinical programs as assigned.

9. Assist Finance management in formulating and implementing financial policies and procedures for the Health System in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and sound financial management practices.

10. Keep Accounting Manager informed about financial matters for assigned entities.

11. Recognize potential technical accounting issues, research to formulate preliminary conclusions and discuss with Accounting management.

12. Participate in departmental meetings as well as special projects and represent the Finance Division as assigned.

13. Assist with developing, preparing, and distributing management and Board reporting packages.

14. Review and approve assigned functions for all assigned entities.

15. Supervise one Accountant, responsible for reviewing and approving all above essential job functions for the assigned personnel. Train, develop, and evaluate employee performance.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • or
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting must be obtained within 2 years of hire.


Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting or related field required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of not-for-profit accounting, including experience with grants and contracts preferred.
  • Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system preferred.
  • Software experience with Lawson preferred.
