JOB TITLE: Lead Room Attendant 

DEPARTMENT: Hotel

REPORTS TO: Hotel Manager

SALARY: Grade 6

                Range Start: $18.95/hourly

                Range End: $28.43/hourly

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

SUPERVISES: Room Attendant, Laundry Attendant

JOB SUMMARY: This team member provides supervision and oversight for daily Hotel housekeeping operations, including cleaning and preparing hotel rooms for guests prior to arrival, during their stay, and upon check-out. This team member is mainly utilized as a Day Shift coordinator, as well as a consistent rover helping with all Room Attendants to improve the speed they are currently completing the day’s room flips

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in directing the work of Hotel Department housekeeping team members during an assigned shift; including the responsibilities of planning, assigning, and directing work
  2. Responsible for coaching, rewarding, and evaluating team member performance
  1. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures
  2. Ensures that the cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and exterior areas of the Hotel is performed within established standards 
  3. Obtains and maintains a list that includes vacant rooms which need to be cleaned immediately, prospective checkouts, and stay-overs in order to prepare work assignments
  4. Assigns the number of rooms, or areas to be cleaned, issues keys, and ensures supplies are adequate based on occupied rooms in the event a Supervisor isn’t available
  5. Inspects room check-outs thoroughly and spot checks the remaining rooms as needed
  6. Creates and maintains regular schedules for special cleaning duties in guest rooms and in public areas, such as flipping mattresses, cleaning draperies and bed spreads, cleaning carpets, and polishing fixtures
  7. Inspects public areas within the Hotel at least once a day including restrooms, the main lobby, corridors, and exterior public areas
  8. Inventories supplies to ensure adequate levels are maintained and notifies the Hotel Manager as needed for ordering
  9. Ensures that supplies meet established standards 
  10. Monitors and checks all deliveries, including laundry and other supplies, to ensure that invoices match materials received, if needed
  11. Coordinates with Facilities Department team members to examine guest rooms and public areas to determine the need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment 
  12. Maintains a good working relationship with the Front Desk team members in order to facilitate a smooth exchange of information
  13. Ensures that safety procedures are being followed by team members 
  14. Recommends the hiring, termination, promotion, or any other change of team member employment status to the Hotel Manager and Hotel Supervisor
  15. Cleans guest rooms and public areas if needed in accordance with established standards including, but not limited to, vacuuming, dusting, making of beds, cleaning bathrooms (tub, sink, toilet, and tiles), and emptying trash
  16. Complies with housekeeping procedures, safety guidelines, and security procedures
  17. Folds linens and maintains ample stock on cart of supplies needed to clean rooms and public areas
  18. Replenishes bathroom supplies including, but not limited to, towels, soap, shampoo, and drinking glasses
  19. Restocks each room’s Guest Services Binder with all information as needed
  20. Moves furniture, straightens bed, tables, curtains, and bedspreads
  21. Washes interior windows, door panels, and sills
  22. Empties wastebaskets and sanitary disposals. Transports trash and waste to disposal area
  23. Reports maintenance deficiencies to the Hotel, Hotel Supervisor, and Facilities Department team members
  24. Checks all furnishings and equipment (lights, radios, etc) for needed repairs or maintenance
  25. Sweeps, scrubs, polishes, and dusts floors, fixtures, and furniture
  26. Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  27. Organizes and arranges guest belongings as necessary to present a clean and orderly room
  28. Checks all rooms for smoke odors and uses a cleaning machine as needed to remove odor
  29. Reports all articles left behind by guests in accordance with policies and procedures 
  30. Maintains an accurate Room Attendant list and notifies the Front Desk of early/late departing guests and occupied/unoccupied rooms
  31. Performs all duties in a manner that continually supports the vision, mission, values, and principles of the Resort & Casino
  32. Performs all duties in a manner that adheres to the guest service standards established by the Resort & Casino’s guest service program
  33. Other duties as assigned by the Hotel Manager


 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A High School diploma, or the equivalent thereof, is preferred

 

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

 

The experience and knowledge requirements outlined here are representative of the minimum that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; however, higher levels of experience and knowledge than required may be reflected during the recruitment process:  

 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • A strong combination of written and verbal communication skills to write, read, and comprehend written correspondence is required
  • The ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members in a positive manner is required
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience and/or training is preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Continuously stands and walks
  • Frequently bends/stoops, climbs, reaches above and below, kneels, and squats
  • Occasionally  crawls 
  • Continuously lifts/carries up to ten (10) pounds

  • Continuously pushes/pulls up to ten (10) pounds
  • Frequently pushes/pulls up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Occasionally pushes/pulls up to seventy five (75)  
  • The ability to use industrial cleaning equipment including, but not limited to, vacuums and carpet cleaners is required
  • The ability to use office equipment including, but not limited to a computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone, is required
