JOB SUMMARY

Eastside Catholic School is seeking a High School English Teacher Short-Term Substitute in our English Department from approximately October 27 to November 21, 2025 for a planned faculty leave. This position is a daily substitute position. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for teaching, excellent communication skills and a strong belief in every student's potential for intellectual growth.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Establish clear objectives for assigned lessons, learning targets and projects and communicate these to students, following the department’s curriculum
  • Collaborate with the English Department to align curriculum 
  • Plan and teach five periods, including: English, 9, English 9 Honors, English 10 Honors, utilizing current pedagogical best practices
  • Monitor and assess each student’s development and progress 
  • Participate in all faculty, department and committee meetings as required
  • Serve as a mentor teacher to a group of 15-18 students

     
Requirements

Required Knowledge, skills and abilities 

  • Strong understanding of and experience delivering honors and on-level English curriculum
  • Experience with differentiated instruction to serve all students
  • Proficiency with classroom technology
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain open communication with students and families
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and organizational skills
  • A commitment to practices that promote equity, inclusion and a sense of belonging

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in English or a related field, master’s degree preferred 
  • Experience teaching at the high school level in English preferred 
Salary Description
$325 per day
