Additional Information: Show/Hide TITLE: Director of American Indian Education QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and/or equivalent management experience.
2. Previous supervisory experience required. 3. Prior experience with American Indian Education required.
SUPERVISES: American Indian Education Department staff, in cooperation with Administration.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools in cooperation with the Cass Lake- Bena AIPAC (American Indian Parent Advisory Committee).
JOB GOAL: Provide leadership and direction towards the implementation of a comprehensive American Indian Education Program within School District 115.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan, develop and implement American Indian Education Programs to meet the cultural and academic needs of American Indian students.
2. Prepare and submit applications, financial and narrative reports, year-end and mid-year reports, and supporting the goals and objectives as required for Title VI, Part A; and the State Indian Education grant.
3. Supervise, evaluate and provide training for American Indian Education program personnel.
4. Must be familiar with state and federal regulations governing funding and ensure that the district is in compliance.
5. Shall be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships between school, community, parents and students.
6. Shall be responsible to work closely with the district and the Leech Lake Reservation to assure that the Tribal Consultation process is progressing.
7. Work closely with the Cass Lake-Bena American Indian Parent Advisory Committee, setting up meetings, public hearings, elections, trainings, etc. and keeping them updated and involved in the educational programs within our district.
8. Coordinate services with the school system and other area programs.
9. Assist all programs in their delivery as needed.
10. Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure that program objectives are being met and implement new methodology as needed to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
11. Work closely with the Johnson O’Malley Parent Committee and the Leech Lake Education Division to assure that JOM students in the district are receiving services in accordance with the Goals and Objectives of the JOM Committee.
12. Assure that all JOM and other related student counts are done annually.
13. Participate in all Administrative meetings, and on specific district committees, as deemed appropriate to your job responsibilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days/year, 8 hours per day
